Late Gothic Painting in the Crown of Aragon and the Hispanic Kingdoms
This book aims to analyze the genesis and evolution of late Gothic painting in the Crown of Aragon and the rest of the Hispanic kingdoms, examining this phenomenon in relation to the whole context of Europe in the second half of the fifteenth century. The authors consider the influence of the Flemish primitive movement on the art produced by their Spanish colleagues, the artistic relations and interchanges with the Netherlands and other countries, and the introduction and development of the Flemish language in the Spanish lands. Cirugía en el paciente geriátrico
El área de la salud estará influida por grandes cambios demográficos que, si bien parecieran estar distantes o no corresponder a la práctica actual, es un hecho que en la práctica quirúrgica son tratamos cada vez con mayor frecuencia pacientes de más de 60 años de edad. En estas circunstancias, cobra importancia ahondar en el estudio del paciente geriátrico de una manera integral, haciendo énfasis en los aspectos quirúrgicos. No se puede negar que el paciente geriátrico tiene peculiaridades en todos los aspectos: anatómicos, fisiológicos, de repuesta al trauma, etc., por lo que constituye un área del conocimiento quirúrgico no del todo explorada, cuando por las tendencias demográficas requiere cada vez de mayor investigación y atención. The Dialectics of Orientalism in Early Modern Europe
Uniting twelve original studies by scholars of early modern history, literature, and the arts, this collection is the first that foregrounds the dialectical quality of early modern Orientalism by taking a broad interdisciplinary perspective. Dialectics of Orientalism demonstrates how texts and images of the sixteenth and seventeenth century from across Europe and the New World are better understood as part of a dynamic and transformative orientalist discourse rather than a manifestation of the supposed dichotomy between the 'East' and the 'West.' The volume's central claim is that early modern orientalist discourses are fundamentally open, self-critical, and creative.
